Nirmal: Addressing a massive gathering at the ‘Praja Palana - Pragathi Bata’ public meeting in Nirmal, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy declared a new era of development for the erstwhile Adilabad district through welfare and development initiatives such as Adilabad University and the industrial corridor.

Emphasising his special affection for the region—the land of the ‘Jal, Jangal, Jameen’ struggle—the CM vowed to bring Adilabad’s development on par with Palamuru district.

Adilabad University, airport and industrial zone among key initiatives

The Chief Minister made several high-profile announcements regarding long-pending projects:

1. Adilabad University: Acknowledging the delay in establishing a dedicated university due to regional disputes, the CM directed Minister Jupally Krishna Rao to plan a university at the Basara IIIT campus.

2. Tummidihatti Project: Terming it vital for the district’s farmers, the CM directed Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy to submit a comprehensive report on the Tummidihatti Project before the upcoming Telangana Budget Session.

“We will capture every drop of water to make Adilabad lush and green (Sasyasyamalam),” he said.

3. Aviation and Industrial Corridor: The CM promised to transform the district from a place where ‘red buses (RTC) struggled to ply’ to a hub where Airbuses will land. He announced plans to set up an airport and a massive industrial zone spanning 10,000 acres to generate local employment.

‘Will work for collaborative governance with Centre’

In a push for ‘politics-free’ development, CM Revanth stated that he would not hesitate to meet anyone, including the Prime Minister, to secure funds for the state.

“I have no personal agenda or ‘lobbying’ interests. I will meet the Prime Minister as many times as necessary to claim the funds due to our state. I urge BJP representatives to cooperate fully for the state’s progress,” said CM Revanth.

Welfare schemes and women empowerment

The Chief Minister highlighted the ‘People’s Government’ (Praja Prabhutvam) agenda focused on the poor:

Housing and food: Implementation of Indiramma houses for the homeless and the supply of ‘Sanna Biyyam’ (fine rice) with an additional bonus for farmers.

Energy and subsidy: Provision of domestic gas cylinders at Rs 500 and 200 units of free electricity to eligible families.

Women’s welfare: Reiteration of the free RTC bus travel scheme and the transition of Self-Help Groups (SHGs) into entrepreneurs through interest-free loans.

Renaming projects after public leaders

In a significant gesture to local sentiments, the CM announced the renaming of two major projects:

- Chanaka-Korata Project will be named after C Ramachandra Reddy.

- Sadarmat Barrage will be named after Narsa Reddy.

He instructed officials to expedite the naming process to honour the services rendered by these leaders to the public.

A call for support

Closing his speech, the CM took a swipe at the opposition, stating that those who ruled for 10 years are unable to witness the current progress. He urged the public to support development-oriented candidates in the upcoming municipal elections, expressing confidence that the Congress party would return to power in the state.
