Adilabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Thursday promised to make the newly sanctioned airport operational with Airbus services within one year.
Addressing a public meeting, the Chief Minister announced a major, time-bound development push for the Adilabad district. He detailed plans for infrastructure, education, and irrigation, while simultaneously launching a scathing attack on the previous government's handling of key projects.
Airport, University, and CCI Revival
CM Reddy emphasized that the era of ignoring Adilabad is over, stating, "It is not a red bus; it will be an Airbus that will land in Adilabad."
Adilabad Airport: He committed to starting works on the airport within a year, confirming assurances from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, and Civil Aviation Minister Rammohan Naidu for the necessary funds and logistical support.
New University: A new university will be established in the district and named after either Indravelli or Kumuram Bheem, aiming to strengthen education and communication facilities.
CCI Revival: The CM also assured that the closed Cement Corporation of India (CCI) unit will be reopened by bringing in private investors.
Kaleshwaram vs. Pranahita-Chevella
The Chief Minister heavily criticized former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao (KCR) over alleged corruption and mismanagement in irrigation projects, particularly the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme (KLIS).
Pranahita-Chevella Project: CM Reddy vowed to complete the Korata Chanaka project and revive the original Pranahita-Chevella project at Tummidihatti at a height of 150 meters. He stated that the government has already called for tenders and he will lay the foundation stone soon, urging local MLAs and MPs to secure speedy approvals from the BJP-led Maharashtra government.
Attack on KCR: He alleged that the previous government shelved the original ₹38,000 crore Pranahita-Chevella project (intended to irrigate 16 lakh acres) and replaced it with the ₹1.50 lakh crore Kaleshwaram project, which he claimed "collapsed in just three years" and was a vehicle for the KCR family to amass wealth through commissions.
Governance, Welfare, and Political Focus
CM Reddy highlighted his government's focus on development and welfare:
Welfare Schemes: He recalled his administration's first major decisions, including declaring the Indravelli Martyrs Memorial as a tourist center and allotting Indiramma houses to martyrs' families. He also listed key achievements in the last year, such as:
Distributing 61,000 appointment letters for government jobs.
Reforming TGPSC and filling 562 Group One and Group Two posts.
Spending ₹8,100 crore for free bus travel for women and promoting one crore women as millionaires.
Call for Unity: The CM asserted that the Union and State governments must work in coordination for the welfare and development of the state. He announced he has invited the Prime Minister, Union Ministers, and Congress leaders like Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, and Mallikarjun Kharge to the upcoming Global Summit on December 8 and 9.
Gram Panchayat Polls: He appealed to the public to elect honest Sarpanches unanimously in the upcoming Gram Panchayat elections, promising to provide funds for village development.
