Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu today launched the ‘Auto Drivers Sevalo’ scheme by taking an auto-rickshaw ride on Vijayawada roads.
The Chief Minister rode in an auto owned by driver P. Apsar Khan, accompanied by the driver's family, marking the official rollout of the scheme.
The scheme aims to support nearly 2.90 lakh auto and cab drivers across Andhra Pradesh with financial assistance of Rs 15,000 each.
Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, Minister Nara Lokesh, and BJP State President PVN Madhav also participated in the event, each traveling in separate autos alongside beneficiary families.
The leaders embarked on a 14-kilometre-long journey from Undavalli to Singh Nagar, passing through prominent landmarks including the Prakasam Barrage, Kaleswara Rao Market, Eluru Locks, and the Government Press at Mutyalampadu.
Notably, Minister Nara Lokesh was driven by T. Swarnalatha, a woman auto driver, highlighting the growing role of women in the sector and the government’s encouragement of gender-inclusive livelihood opportunities.
En route, the Chief Minister had a conversation with the driver's family, engaging warmly with them and listening to their everyday challenges, struggles, and aspirations.
