Tirumala: Anna Lezhneva Konidela, wife of Andhra Pradesh Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan, offered prayers at Sri Venkateswara Temple in Tirumala on Monday.
She tonsured her head to fulfill a vow she had taken when her seven-year-old son Mark Shankar suffered burns in a fire accident in Singapore recently.
As per Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) rules, Anna, who is a Russian Christian, signed declaration forms at Gayatri Sadan in the presence of temple officials declaring her faith in Lord Venkateshwara prior to her visit and participation in the rituals.
Anna offered hair as a mark of gratitude to the deity.
"In keeping with the tradition, Anna offered her hair at Padmavati Kalyana Katta and participated in rituals," a press release from Janasena party said.
The couple's son, Mark Shankar, survived a fire accident in Singapore on April 8, while attending a summer camp. He suffered burns to his hands and legs and inhaled smoke in the accident. Pawan Kalyan, who was on a tour in Alluri Seetharamaraju district, went to Singapore. After his discharge, he was brought back to Hyderabad.
