As many as 15 buses were fined in the inspections that revealed multiple violations.

Enforcement drive amid rising accidents

The crackdown comes against the backdrop of a series of bus accidents reported in recent months across the state, triggering concerns over passenger safety and compliance standards.

The government has intensified enforcement measures to address these lapses and ensure safer roads.

Violations found during inspections

During the inspection drive in Guntur district, officials examined over 20 buses. One vehicle was seized for failing to meet documentation and safety requirements, while challans were issued to 15 buses for various violations.

The checks revealed gaps in adherence to mandatory norms among operators.

Minister calls for strict compliance

The Minister emphasised that there will be zero tolerance towards violations and instructed officials to enforce strict compliance with safety regulations.

Bus operators and staff have been directed to maintain proper documentation and follow all prescribed operational guidelines without exception.

Comprehensive safety checks

Authorities carried out detailed inspections covering fitness certificates, driving licence validity, speed regulation compliance, duty norms for drivers and the overall condition of buses. These checks aim to ensure that vehicles on the road meet all required safety standards.

Focus on passenger safety and comfort

Officials also reviewed passenger facilities, including ticketing systems, seating arrangements and the availability of emergency safety equipment.

The initiative is aimed at ensuring not just compliance, but also safe and comfortable travel for passengers.

Statewide crackdown to continue

The Transport Department has indicated that such surprise inspections will continue across Andhra Pradesh.

Travellers should choose proper transport

Alongside enforcement, awareness is being created among passengers about the importance of choosing safe and compliant transport services, as part of a broader effort to improve transparency and reduce road accidents.
