BC panel questions accuracy of data from Telangana govt departments

Hyderabad: Telangana Commission for Backward Classes alleged that accurate information about BCs in the Secretariat is not being given by the heads of the departments.

The meeting held at the commission office expressed dissatisfaction over the fact that many departments did not give correct information.

Why is the commission collecting census information?

After the caste census in Telangana, the commission started collecting details of BC employees to know about their employment numbers in the Secretariat.

To get accurate information, the commission decided to hold a meeting with the heads of the Secretariat departments in the State on August 25. The commission members will speak to heads of departments and sensitise them on the need to provide the information.

Letter to CS

In addition, the commission has decided to write a letter to the Chief Secretary of the State Government to provide the details of the caste survey conducted in the State for the use of the commission.

The commission has decided to submit its report to the government as soon as possible on the guidelines for issuing certificates as DNTs to applicants of the Seed Scheme run by the Central government for the nomadic tribes.

The commission has decided to request the Chief Secretary of the State Government to conduct a study on the functioning of the Village Development Committees (VDCs) in the State and atrocities on BC castes through a special committee.

The commission said that the State Government is providing reservations only to socially and educationally Backward Classes irrespective of religion in the State.
