Hyderabad: The Telangana Commission for Backward Classes (BCs) said that the data of the BC employees in the State secretariat has not yet been submitted by ‘non-compliant’ secretaries.
The data is important to chalk out the road map for the welfare of BCs in the State. The commission discussed this during its meeting held on Friday at its office in Khairatabad under the chairmanship of G Niranjan and other members.
During the meeting, the commission discussed various issues. Particularly, the commission had a detailed discussion on the collection of details of employees working in the State Government.
Focus on employee data and BC cells
The commission decided to meet and review with those government secretaries who have not yet submitted the details of their employees.
A primary focus of the discussion was the extensive collection of employee details across State government departments.
The commission noted that some government secretaries have yet to submit this crucial information. To address this, the commission has resolved to schedule a meeting to review and follow up with the ‘non-compliant’ secretaries.
It was also decided to recommend the establishment of BC Cells in the offices of all Heads of Departments in the Government. The commission said this will help in bringing in support for BC welfare across the bureaucracy.
This is expected to streamline the implementation of BC-related policies and address grievances more effectively.
Push for Central OBC list inclusion
As many as 40 castes are to be included in the list of Backward Classes in the Central list. This is a long-pending demand from Telangana State, said chairman G Niranjan.
Regarding the 40 castes that are included in the Telangana State BC list but not included in the Central OBC list, the Commission had already written a letter to the Union Minister of Social Justice, Dr Virendra Kumar.
In response, the Union Minister stated that the matter is under consideration and inclusion in the Central list has to be done by an Act of Parliament according to Article 342A of the Constitution of India. The commission decided to make every effort to ensure justice for these 40 castes.
Reservation among electricity employees
The Telangana Electricity BC Employees Welfare Association submitted a representation to the BC Commission regarding the implementation of reservations in electricity organisations and other issues of BC employees.
The commission examined the representation and held a detailed discussion. After an extensive discussion, the commission decided on a two-pronged approach: first, it will seek a preliminary report on these complaints from the concerned authorities. Following this, the Commission plans to personally visit the offices of the power companies to conduct an on-site inquiry.
Further, the commission decided to inaugurate the office library within one month.
