Bengaluru: Police have arrested four people, including the top marketing official of RCB, in the Bengaluru stampede case.
Eleven people died and over 50 others were injured in the stampede during the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB's) IPL victory celebrations near the Chinnaswamy Stadium.
According to the FIR, Nikhil Sosale, a top marketing official of the RCB, was among those arrested. He was on his way to Mumbai when he was arrested at Kempegowda International Airport, Bengaluru, at around 6.30 am on Friday.
The stampede also prompted the Karnataka government to suspend top police officers, including Bengaluru City Commissioner B Dayananda, for the lapses in an arrangement that led to the stampede. Following Dayananda's suspension, the government appointed Seemanth Kumar Singh as the new Bengaluru police chief.
So far, three FIRs have been filed at the Cubbon Park police station over the stampede, blaming the RCB management, KSCA, and DNA Entertainment Private Limited for inadequate arrangements and poor crowd management.
