BSF jawan Kumar Shaw, who accidentally entered Pakistan, released after 20 days

Attari: BSF constable Kumar Shaw returns to India after 20 days in Pakistan custody

Attari: Border Security Force (BSF) constable Purnam Kumar Shaw was handed over by Pakistan Rangers at 10.30 am via the Attari-Wagah border on Wednesday. Shaw was released by Pakistan after 20 days.

During Operation Sindoor, he was in the custody of Pakistan, and his family was very worried and upset about this fate. After the ceasefire announcement, his family has been constantly in touch with the BSF for his release from Pakistan. The Government of India negotiated his release, and he was handed over at the border in Punjab.

Purnam Kumar Shaw is from Rishtra in the West Bengal Hooghly district.

What happened?

On April 23, a day after the Pahalgam terror attack, Shaw accidentally crossed the International Line of Control in the Ferozepur district.

The Pakistani Army took Shaw into custody. He was released on the Attari-Wagah border after 20 days in custody. Shaw’s wife, Rajini Sahu, went to Chandigarh and met the BSF officials, urging them to ensure that her husband was returned safely to India.

A diplomatic win for India

The release of Shaw is being seen as a diplomatic win for India, as it shows that Pakistan is willing to release the security forces who were caught.

After Operation Sindoor and the announcement of the ceasefire, there has been a lot of hue and cry on social media in both countries.
