Centre clears Rs 341.48 crore disaster relief for Andhra for floods, Cyclone Montha losses

New Delhi: The Centre has approved Rs 341.48 crore in additional disaster relief assistance for Andhra Pradesh following the damage caused by floods, flash floods, cloudbursts, landslides and cyclone ‘Montha’ in 2025.

The decision was taken by a High-Level Committee (HLC) chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, according to an official statement issued on Friday.

Rs 1,912.99 crore relief package for six regions

The committee approved Rs 1,912.99 crore in additional financial assistance to five states and the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir that were severely affected by natural disasters in 2025.

The states that will receive assistance are Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, and Nagaland, besides Jammu and Kashmir.

State-wise breakdown of disaster assistance

According to the official statement, the funds sanctioned under the National Disaster Response Fund (NDRF) are distributed as follows:

Andhra Pradesh: Rs 341.48 crore

Chhattisgarh: Rs 15.70 crore

Gujarat: Rs 778.67 crore

Himachal Pradesh: Rs 288.39 crore

Nagaland: Rs 158.41 crore

Jammu and Kashmir: Rs 330.34 crore

Officials clarified that this financial assistance is over and above the funds already released to states under the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF).

Thousands of crores have already been released for disaster management

The Centre also highlighted the large-scale financial support already provided to states during the current financial year (2025–26).

According to the statement from the Centre:

- Rs 20,735 crore has been released to 28 states under the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF).

- Rs 3,628.18 crore has been released to 21 states under the National Disaster Response Fund (NDRF).

Funds for disaster mitigation

Apart from relief funds, the Centre said it has also provided financial support to help states strengthen disaster mitigation measures. This includes:

- Rs 5,373.20 crore for 23 states under the State Disaster Mitigation Fund (SDMF).

- Rs 1,189.56 crore for 21 states under the National Disaster Mitigation Fund (NDMF).

Centre assures support during disasters

The government reiterated that it remains committed to supporting states during natural disasters.

The statement said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Government of India is standing shoulder to shoulder with State governments during disasters and providing all necessary assistance.
