New Delhi: FASTag-based Annual Pass for private vehicles from August 15; pay Rs 3,000, take 200 trips

New Delhi: Starting August 15, the Centre will roll out a FASTag-based Annual Pass priced at Rs 3,000, aimed at private non-commercial vehicles like cars, jeeps and vans. The pass will be valid for one year from the date of activation or up to 200 trips, whichever is earlier.

Announcing the initiative on X, Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari said, ā€œThe annual pass will offer seamless and cost-effective travel across National Highways across the country.ā€ A dedicated link for activation and renewal will soon be available on the Rajmarg Yatra App and the official websites of NHAI and MoRTH.

The move is expected to address long-pending concerns over toll plazas within a 60 km radius, offering a simplified, one-time payment solution. It also aims to reduce waiting times, ease traffic congestion and minimise disputes at toll booths—ultimately providing a faster and smoother journey for millions of private vehicle users.

It may be recalled that in April 2025, Union Minister reiterated that physical toll booths would be removed across the country soon and the Centre will come up with a new toll policy. The new system would involve automatic deductions from bank accounts using satellite tracking and vehicle number plate recognition, eliminating the need for manual toll collection.
