CM Revanth flags land acquisition delays affecting Telangana roads, highways projects
Hyderabad: October-end has been set by Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy as the deadline for land acquisition for many roads and highway projects in the State have been delayed.
He also asked all collectors to resolve arbitration issues and not keep them pending for long in a review meeting at the Secretariat on Monday.
Key directives and project focus
The Chief Minister issued directives to ensure the timely completion of projects and addressed critical highway proposals:
Land acquisition and compensation: CM Revanth demanded that land acquisition and compensation disbursement must be completed by the end of October.
He warned that strict action, including the removal of Collectors, RDOs and Tahsildars, would be taken against officials showing negligence in the process. He instructed the Chief Secretary to prepare a report on all pending court cases and discuss their resolution with the Advocate General within a week.
Regional Ring Road (RRR): The CM questioned NHAI officials regarding repeated queries on the RRR North project, despite the State clarifying all previous doubts. He urged them to send all remaining queries at once. He also advised treating RRR North and South as a single project, retaining the same number for the South section and granting immediate approval for the alignment of RRR South to ensure simultaneous commencement of work.
Bharat Future City-Amaravati-Machilipatnam Greenfield Highway: CM Revanth urged immediate approval for the 12-lane Greenfield Highway, emphasising its importance as a development hub. He noted that the state plans to establish a dry port, logistics park and industrial park in Bharat Future City.
This highway would significantly connect the two State capitals (Hyderabad and Amaravati), shorten the Hyderabad-Vijayawada route by 70 km, and generate substantial traffic and revenue. He pointed out that the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act also mentioned constructing a greenfield highway between the two states.
The CM also advocated for a parallel railway line (Bengaluru-Shamshabad Airport-Amaravati), highlighting its profitability for operating Vande Bharat and other trains.
Elevated Corridor (Hyderabad-Srisailam): Immediate permission for the Elevated Corridor from Raviryal to Mannanur on the Hyderabad-Srisailam route, noting the large daily influx of devotees to the Srisailam temple and reservoir, which is in a tiger forest area.
Other projects: The CM urged officials to expedite the resolution of the NGT case concerning the removal of banyan trees on the Hyderabad-Manneguda road.
For the new Hyderabad-Mancherial-Nagpur route, he asked for the acceptance of the state government's proposed alignment, which would facilitate new industrial parks and connections to multiple highways.
