CM Revanth invites PM Modi to ‘Telangana Rising’ Global Summit, seeks Hyderabad–Bengaluru defence corridor

Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Wednesday urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to declare the Hyderabad–Bengaluru industrial belt as a defence and aerospace corridor.

He asserted that such a move would significantly boost India’s strategic manufacturing ecosystem and strengthen the country’s push towards Viksit Bharat.

The appeal was made at the inauguration of French aerospace major Safran’s largest Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) facility for LEAP engines at the GMR Aeropark (SEZ), Shamshabad.

Landmark LEAP Engine MRO to start operations in 2026

The Safran Aircraft Engine Services India (SAESI) facility, described as the largest MRO of its kind for LEAP engines in the country, will become operational in 2026.

Established with an investment of Rs 1,300 crore, the facility will generate direct employment for over 1,000 highly skilled technicians and engineers, besides opening fresh business opportunities for local MSMEs and precision engineering enterprises.

“This is the first LEAP engine MRO centre in India, and it firmly places Hyderabad on the global aerospace maintenance map,” the Chief Minister said.

The Chief Minister also laid the foundation stone for Safran’s M88 Military Engine MRO facility, which will cater to the servicing needs of both the Indian Air Force and the Indian Navy.

He said the twin projects reinforce Telangana’s strategic importance in India’s defence preparedness and advanced manufacturing ecosystem.

Hyderabad consolidates position as global aerospace hub

CM Revanth said Hyderabad has today emerged as one of India’s most significant aerospace and defence hubs, with the presence of over 25 major global companies and more than 1,500 MSMEs operating in the sector.

He attributed this growth to Telangana’s industry-friendly, innovation-driven and MSME-focused policies, which continue to attract marquee international investments.

The city is already a preferred destination for aerospace majors such as Safran, Boeing, Airbus, Tata Group and Bharat Forge for manufacturing, research, and MRO activities, he noted.

Aerospace exports surge past pharma

Highlighting Telangana’s export performance, the Chief Minister said the state’s aerospace and defence exports doubled last year, reaching Rs 30,742 crore in just nine months, surpassing pharmaceutical exports for the first time.

He added that Telangana has also consistently won the Best State Award for Aerospace from the Ministry of Civil Aviation.

Skilling push to support high-end manufacturing

Emphasising the importance of skilled manpower, CM Revanth said the State government has upgraded 100 Industrial Training Institutes into Advanced Technology Centres in collaboration with Tata Technologies.

He said the Young India Skills University is offering specialised training in aircraft maintenance and invited Safran to play a lead role in Telangana’s aerospace skilling initiatives.

Bharat Future City and Global Summit invitation to PM

Reaffirming the government’s long-term infrastructure vision, the Chief Minister spoke about the upcoming Bharat Future City, being developed across 30,000 acres as a fully planned, green and net-zero global destination.

He formally invited PM Modi to attend the ‘Telangana Rising 2047 – Global Summit’ scheduled for December 8 and 9, where the State’s long-term development roadmap will be unveiled.

Telangana, he said, is targeting to become a $1 trillion economy by 2035 and a $3 trillion economy by 2047, he added.
