Connect Hyderabad to Bandar in Andhra Pradesh via Amaravati: CM Revanth to Centre, Railways

Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has urged the Centre and Indian Railways to connect Hyderabad to Bandar (Machilipatnam) Port in Andhra Pradesh via Amaravati.

He called for building a 12-lane greenfield highway, a rapid rail link, and a railway line to boost trade, industry, and mobility.

The Chief Minister made these appeals during a review meeting with South Central Railway (SCR) general manager Sanjay Kumar Srivatsava and senior officials.

12-lane Highway and Rapid Rail Link

Revanth Reddy said the state government had submitted a proposal for a 12-lane, 300-km highway from Bharat Future City to Bandar Port via Amaravati.

Alongside, a rapid rail corridor between Hyderabad and Amaravati should be developed, he stressed, pointing out that this was part of the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, 2014.

Ring Rail to boost Hyderabad

Highlighting urban infrastructure needs, the Chief Minister pressed for the Regional Ring Rail (RRR) project to be developed parallel to the 362-km Regional Ring Road. He said a ring rail system would ease congestion, improve regional connectivity, and transform Hyderabad’s growth prospects.

Focus on High-Speed Connectivity

Revanth Reddy also asked railway officials to explore high-speed rail projects to Chennai and Bengaluru from Hyderabad, besides other long-term initiatives. He assured that the state would extend all support for pending railway works, including land acquisition and funding.

Industrial Corridor Plan

Revanth Reddy revealed that proposals were ready to build a railway line alongside the highway and to expand the industrial corridor up to 1.5 km on both sides of the route. He observed that road-rail-port connectivity models in advanced countries had spurred industrial growth and must be replicated in Telangana.

The meeting was attended by MP Kadiyam Kavya, CM’s adviser Vem Narender Reddy, Special Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao, R&B Special Secretary Vikas Raj, Principal Secretary K.S. Sreenivasa Raju, and Finance Secretary Sandeep Kumar Sultania.
