By Newsmeter Network Published on 11 Aug 2023 4:30 AM GMTHyderabad: The Global Youth Consultation is being held as part of the UN Human Rights 75 program. In 2023, the program is set to mark the 75th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR), a document enacted by the United Nations.
The Global Youth Consultation will take place on August 14, from 2:30 pm to 4:30 pm (CEST). The UN Human Rights has launched an online poll in six official UN languages to ensure that more young people may contribute to the creation of the Human Rights 75 Youth Declaration. This anonymous poll is accessible to anybody, although it is primarily aimed at young people aged 18 to 30.
The Human Rights 75 program, sponsored by the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), commemorates the UDHR-envisioned consensus, looks to the future, and aspires to strengthen the human rights ecosystem developed over decades.
OHCHR is seeking perspectives on the present and future of human rights from youth-led and youth-focused organisations and institutions, which will be combined with the results of the Global Youth Consultation to shape the preparation of the Human Rights 75 Youth Declaration.
The online poll is available in the six official UN languages namely Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian, and Spanish.
About the 75th Human Rights Campaign
The United Nations will mark the 75th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in 2023, which also marks the 30th anniversary of the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights.
For 75 years, the Declaration's central goal has been to instill equality, basic freedoms, and justice in society. It enshrines all human rights and serves as a worldwide template for international, national, and municipal laws and regulations, as well as the foundation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
The United Nations will commemorate the 75th anniversary of the Declaration of Human Rights on December 10, 2023, as Human Rights 75. Throughout the year, the effort aspires to enhance awareness of the universality and indivisibility of human rights, particularly among young people, to inspire people to form a movement of shared humanity, and to empower them to fight for their rights.
