Develop Amrabad, Kawal reserves so tourists can spot tigers in Telangana: CM Revanth

Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy asked officials to develop and promote Amrabad and Kawal tiger reserves in Mahbubnagar and Mancherial District, respectively. He said this will be helpful for tourists who have to go to neighbouring States to see tigers.

The CM chaired a review meeting with the Forest Department on Tuesday regarding boosting eco-tourism. CM Revanth Reddy, along with minister Konda Surekha, also noted that Warangal Zoo must be developed as it is the second largest city in the State.

ā€œTelangana has vast forest lands, rivers and waterfalls which can become tourist attractions. Improve the facilities in these places and there will be an influx of visitors to the State,ā€ the CM said.

Here are some key aspects of the meeting about improving tourist influx in the State:

Boundary demarcation: A joint survey to resolve disputes between the Forest and Revenue departments regarding land boundaries. District Collectors to pay special attention to this issue.

Warangal Zoo development: Create a plan for developing the Kakatiya Zoo in Warangal by looking at the possibilities of public-private partnership.

Immediate compensation: Give immediate compensation to victims of wild animal attacks, including those who have lost livestock. CM Revanth suggested using funds from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund for this purpose.

Inter-departmental coordination: The Chief Minister stressed the need for coordination between the Forest Department and other departments to expedite approvals for road and development projects. He also asked them to secure necessary permissions from the Central Ministry of Forest and Environment as quickly as possible.

Forest surveillance: All forest surveillance cameras are to be connected to the Command Control Centre to monitor wildlife and their movements.

Promotions and awards: The Chief Minister inquired about the shortage of officials in the department and asked for proposals for promotions and new hirings to be prepared immediately. He also suggested reviving the practice of giving awards to officials who demonstrate excellent performance.
