Rohtak: Even before the wounds of Kolkata's brutal rape and murder could heal, the abduction and assault of a BDS student at PGIMS, Rohtak has sent shock waves across the country.
The PGIMS administration expelled Dr Manindar Kaushik on August 18 after the complaint was filed. Subsequently, he was arrested by the police.
However, the BDS student has taken to Instagram claiming that no serious action was taken against him.
The BDS student claimed that she didn't budge to the compulsions of Maninder to be in a relationship with him. She was reportedly abducted from outside the college library and was assaulted for around 12 hours between August 16 and 17.
The PG student of anatomy has been stalking her for the past several months.
āOver the past seven months, a senior PG Anatomy, Dr. Manindar Kaushik, has been stalking me. What began as a seemingly friendly interaction soon escalated into something much more sinister. He persistently pressured me to enter into a relationship, and when I refused, he became violentā, she wrote on Instagram along with the video.
Dr Manindar had taken hold of her admit card of Anatomy, the department to which he belonged, and under the guise of handing it back, he had abducted her.
Dr Mohammed Manzur Ahamed, the president of the All India Dental Students Association (AIDSA) said, āThere are committees to complain about the raging incidents in the institutions. But there is no grievance cell to lodge complaints on such stalking and threatening in the campusā.
The victim was visibly shaken by the traumatic experience while sharing the incidents which transpired on August 16 and 17. She had bruises, cuts, and swelling in several places in her body.
āOn behalf of the AIDSA, we demand the formation of a separate cell to address the concerns of the students on the campuses across India. An effective redressal mechanism can help prevent such cruel activities at the primitive levelsā, Dr Manzur said.
The students are all on their own since there is no concrete support from the administrative bodies governing the institutions.
āThe students of one batch would have a single mentor or in charge. There is no easy way to approach the college faculty or any other responsible person to report such sensitive things. The responsible governments and departments should ensure the formation of such arrangements for the students to air their concernsā, Dr Manzur added.
A student on the condition of another from PGIMS, "We are unable to reach out to her since she has isolated herself due to the experience she had to go through".
