Doctors, staff vacancies in Singareni hospitals to be filled by March: Deputy CM Bhatti
Hyderabad: Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Energy, Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, announced that all pending vacancies of doctors and paramedical staff in regional hospitals under Singareni will be filled by March 2026.
The government said that the move is aimed towards safeguarding the health of Singareni workers and their family members.
Recruitment of 32 doctors, 176 paramedical staff initiated
Responding to questions raised by members during the discussion on Singareni in the Assembly on Tuesday, the Deputy Chief Minister stated that currently 11 contract doctors are working and that a notification has already been issued for the recruitment of 32 doctors, with the vacancies to be filled shortly.
He also informed that the internal recruitment process for 176 paramedical staff is currently underway.
Cath Lab at Ramagundam to open in 75 days
He further stated that the Cath Lab at Ramagundam is being taken up under the PPP model, that the contract has already been awarded, and that it will be inaugurated within 75 days.
He added that retired employees are being provided with medicines through Singareni hospitals under the CPRMS scheme, with a facility to avail medicines up to a value of Rs 8 lakh. Terminal benefits are also being extended, he said.
Regarding housing for retired employees, he stated that the issue of allocating plots for house construction on vacant Singareni lands would be discussed by the boards, and a decision would be taken.
‘Protect Singareni from globalisation and privatisation’
He emphasised that Singareni is the largest public sector undertaking in Telangana, providing employment opportunities to thousands of youth, and that the responsibility of protecting this institution lies not only with the employees but also with public representatives and society at large.
Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka informed the House that the primary objective of the government is to protect the survival of the Singareni organisation amid the challenges of globalisation and privatisation.
‘Auction instead of allocation of coal blocks is benefiting private agencies’
He expressed concern that due to the new policies being followed by the Central government, coal blocks in the state are being auctioned instead of being directly allocated to Singareni, allowing private agencies to enter the sector.
He stated that in the past, Singareni lost certain coal blocks due to non-participation in auctions. However, after the Congress government came to power, Singareni was encouraged to participate directly in auctions, enabling it to secure some coal blocks.
He pointed out that private companies are currently supplying coal in the market at prices lower than those of Singareni coal, and consumers naturally prefer to purchase coal at lower prices. This situation, he said, is impacting Singareni’s coal sales.
High-level meeting on welfare of Singareni in 10 days
To deliberate on measures required for the survival of Singareni and the welfare of its workers, he announced that a high-level meeting would be convened within 10 days of the conclusion of the Assembly session. The meeting will include ministers, MPs, MLAs and MLCs from the Singareni region, along with the CMD and directors of the organisation.
Rs 1 crore accident insurance cover
Reiterating that the ‘people’s government’ formed under Indiramma Rajyam is giving top priority to the welfare of Singareni workers, Bhatti Vikramarka stated that the government is ensuring worker safety by providing a Rs 1 crore accident insurance cover exclusively through banks, without placing any financial burden on either the State government or the Singareni organisation.
He also announced that the government has decided to extend this Rs 1 crore accident insurance scheme—successfully implemented in Singareni—to employees working in the DISCOMs of the power sector as well.
