Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh government has increased the prices of most liquor brands.
However, prices of beer, wine, and ready-to-drink beverages have not been changed.
The move, aimed at rationalising pricing and trade margins. The revised pricing structure and policy changes were notified through separate government orders issued by Excise Department Principal Secretary Mukesh Kumar Meena, officials said.
₹10 hike on most liquor brands
Except for quarter bottles priced at Rs 99, all other liquor brands will now cost Rs 10 more, irrespective of quantity. The government clarified that this uniform increase will apply across categories, bringing a modest upward revision in retail prices.
No change in Beer, Wine prices
In a relief to consumers, the prices of beer, wine, and ready-to-drink (RTD) beverages have been left untouched, the orders stated.
Microbreweries allowed near cities
In another key decision, the government has permitted the establishment of microbreweries in three-star and above category hotels located within a 5-km radius outside municipal corporation limits.
Retail margin increased for Liquor Shops
The government has also increased the retail margin paid to liquor shop licensees by one percentage point, offering some financial relief to retailers.
Equal pricing for Bars and Retailers
The additional retail excise tax (ARET) levied on bar licensees while purchasing liquor from the Andhra Pradesh State Beverages Corporation Limited (APSBCL) depots has been abolished.
With this change, liquor shop licensees and bar licensees will now be able to procure liquor from APSBCL at the same price.
