Festive offer: Railways launches round-trip scheme with 20% off on return fare

New Delhi: The Ministry of Railways has unveiled a special ‘Round Trip Package’ scheme where passengers booking both onward and return journeys for the same set of travellers will get a 20 per cent discount on the base fare of the return trip.

Bookings will be valid only for confirmed tickets, in the same class and for the same origin–destination pair.

The scheme is valid for all classes and trains, including Trains on Demand, but excludes Flexi fare trains. Bookings must be made in the same mode, either online or offline, for both trips.

Special festive offers

The offer is expected to manage the rush during the upcoming festive season and balance the train occupancy in both directions, including in special trains.

Onward Journey: Between October 13 and October 26

Return Journey: Between November 17 and December 1

Bookings for onward travel open August 14.

The return ticket must be booked immediately after the onward journey using the ‘connecting journey’ feature. The usual advance reservation period will not apply to the return leg.

No refunds or modifications

Tickets under this scheme are non-refundable and cannot be modified. Concessions, travel coupons, vouchers or passes will not be accepted for the return journey booking.

Aim of the scheme

The Railways said the experimental scheme is designed to redistribute peak festival traffic, ensure optimal seat utilisation on both legs of travel, and make festive travel more affordable for passengers.
