From June 2, Telangana to introduce slot booking at sub-registrar offices to curb corruption

Telangana: Telangana to launch slot booking at all sub-registrar offices from June 2

Hyderabad: In a major reform to enhance transparency and efficiency in property registrations, the Telangana State government will implement a slot booking system at all sub-registrar offices starting June 2, coinciding with the State Formation Day.

Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy announced the decision following a high-level review meeting with department officials. The slot booking initiative, aimed at curbing corruption and streamlining services, was earlier launched on a pilot basis in 22 sub-registrar offices on April 10.

36,000 registrations completed

Buoyed by the positive outcomes—wherein over 36,000 registrations were completed with 94 per cent user satisfaction—the government expanded the system to 25 more offices from May 12.

ā€œWith the success of the initial phases, we are now gearing up to implement the slot system across all registration offices,ā€ said minister Ponguleti.

Additional staff to be deployed

To support the growing demand and reduce delays, the government is also deploying additional staff in high-traffic registration offices. Nine sub-registrar offices—including those at Patancheru, Yadagirigutta, Gandipet, Ibrahimpatnam, Suryapet, Jadcherla, Mahbubnagar, Wanaparthy and Jogulamba Gadwal—will see the appointment of extra sub-registrars and support personnel.

In offices like Quthbullapur, Uppal and Maheshwaram, the deployment of additional staff has already significantly reduced registration time, with some transactions being completed in as little as 10 minutes.

List of restricted properties to go public

The State is also taking robust measures to prevent the registration of government or prohibited lands.

A new digital portal, modelled after the Bhoomi Bharati system, is being developed to list restricted properties. Any attempt to register such land will be automatically flagged at the Stamps and Registrations department headquarters in Hyderabad, prompting swift disciplinary action.
