Furnish caste wise data of BC employees by Sep 15: TBCC to govt departments

Hyderabad: Telangana Backward Classes Commission (TBCC) has asked all departments to submit information about caste wise data of BC employees by September 15.
In a meeting held on Monday, the chairman of the commission, G Niranjan, expressed his dissatisfaction over the collection of caste wise data of the BC employees.
The government secretaries were invited for the interaction with the commission, but there were some secretaries who were not present, and this was disappointing, said G Niranjan.
The Purpose of the Data Collection
The Commission, a statutory body tasked with monitoring BC reservations and addressing related complaints, is collecting this data to make recommendations to the government for the social, educational, and economic development of Backward Classes.
During visits to the ten erstwhile districts of the state, the Commission received feedback from smaller BC communities that felt they were being overlooked for opportunities, with benefits being predominantly received by larger BC communities. The Commission is also acting on a directive from the Supreme Court to examine certain issues concerning BC communities and submit its opinion.
Commission Expresses Dissatisfaction
Bala Maya Devi, the commission's member secretary, noted that despite previous requests, departments had failed to provide complete information. In addition to the September 15 deadline, the Commission has requested that such departmental details be submitted annually by March 31.

The attending officials assured their full cooperation and offered suggestions for the data collection exercise.
Background
The commission stated that is exercise is being done to provide reservations only to socially and educationally backward classes irrespective of religion in the state. The commission has clarified that the state government is providing reservation only to socially and educationally backward classes among Muslims, even in the BC-E group.
