New Delhi: India described its actions as focused, measured, and non-escalatory on Operation SINDOOR.
During a press conference held on May 7, it was clearly stated that Indian strikes did not target Pakistani military establishments. India also reaffirmed that any attacks on its military assets would be met with an appropriate and proportional response.
On the night of 07ā08 May 2025, Pakistan launched an attempted strike on multiple military locations in Northern and Western Indiaāincluding Awantipura, Srinagar, Jammu, Pathankot, Amritsar, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Adampur, Bhatinda, Chandigarh, Nal, Phalodi, Uttarlai, and Bhujāusing drones and missiles. These threats were effectively intercepted and neutralised by Indiaās Integrated Counter-UAS Grid and Air Defence systems. Debris from these engagements is being collected and provides clear evidence of the Pakistani attacks.
In response, earlier this morning, the Indian Armed Forces conducted precise strikes targeting Pakistani Air Defence Radars and systems at multiple locations. This retaliatory action was confined to the same operational domain and carried out with equivalent intensity. Reliable sources confirm that an Air Defence installation in Lahore has been successfully neutralised.
Meanwhile, Pakistan has escalated unprovoked firing along the Line of Control, employing mortars and heavy artillery across sectors including Kupwara, Baramulla, Uri, Poonch, Mendhar, and Rajouri in Jammu and Kashmir.
Tragically, these attacks have claimed sixteen civilian lives, including three women and five children. In response, Indian forces were compelled to return fire in order to suppress continued Pakistani shelling.
The Indian Armed Forces remain firmly committed to restraint and non-escalationāprovided this approach is reciprocated by the Pakistani military.
