Prayagraj: Panic gripped Maha Kumbh on Sunday after a cylinder blast triggered a massive blaze leaving one person injured.
The blast that occurred in the kitchen of Gita Press camp, left one person injured and damaged 18 tents in Sector 19.
The 45-day Maha Kumbh 2025 started on Paush Purnima on January 13. More than 7.72 crore people have taken the holy dip, according to official figures available till Saturday. On Sunday, more than 46.95 lakh devotees took a dip in the Sangam.
As the blast occurred, smoke enveloped the fair area. About 15 fire tenders brought the blaze, which started at around 4 pm, under control within an hour.
Learning about the incident Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath over the phone to enquire about the incident.
According to the reports, the fire broke out after a small cylinder started leaking while preparing tea. Soon, two other gas cylinders exploded. A man identified as Jaspreet fainted and injured his leg. He was rushed to the Maha Kumbh Hospital for treatment.
