Sigachi Industries MD Amit Sinha announces Rs 1 Cr ex gratia
Hyderabad: Under fire, Sigachi Industries Managing Director and CEO Amit Raj Sinha said that the company has no idea what caused the massive explosion at its unit.
Sinha said they are awaiting the findings of the expert committee constituted by the State government.
Ex gratia of Rs 1 Cr announced
Speaking to reporters at the Pashamylaram industrial area on Wednesday night, Sinha announced that the company would pay Rs 1 crore as ex gratia to the families of those who lost their lives in the incident, in addition to all insurance claims.
40 dead, 33 injured
He stated that there were around 90 employees working inside the building when the explosion occurred. The blast claimed 40 lives and left 33 others injured.
Equipment was new, says CEO
Clarifying on the unitās condition, Sinha said all the equipment used in the factory was new, though the building itself was a bit old. He added that the drying unit and air handling units were in good condition.
Full cooperation with government probe
The CEO assured that the management would extend complete cooperation to the government-appointed team of experts to ascertain the cause of the tragedy.
Decision on factory operations after 90 days
Sinha said a decision on resuming factory operations would be taken after 90 days. Meanwhile, the company has promised to bear all treatment expenses of the injured and extend full support to the victimsā families.
