Sigachi factory blast: Telangana High Court grants bail to firm MD, anticipatory bail to directors
Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court granted bail to the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Sigachi Factory, Sangareddy District, along with anticipatory bail to four directors of the company, in connection with a catastrophic industrial explosion that claimed 54 lives and left 28 workers grievously injured on June 30, 2025.
Justice Kalasikam Sujana, presiding over a single bench of the High Court, granted bail on Tuesday to Amith Raj Sinha, Managing Director and CEO of the factory, who had been in judicial custody for over a month.
Personal bond of Rs 1 lakh with two sureties
The court imposed several conditions, including the execution of a personal bond of Rs 1 lakh with two sureties of like sum each, to the satisfaction of the Additional Judicial Magistrate, First Class, Sangareddy.
The petitioner has been directed to abide by conditions stipulated under Section 480(3) of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, refrain from tampering with prosecution evidence or attempting to influence witnesses and comply with all conditions imposed by the court.
Delay in initiating criminal proceedings
The factory explosion, which occurred on June 30, 2025, initially did not result in immediate criminal proceedings against the company’s management.
Police action was only initiated after a Division Bench, comprising Chief Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh and Justice GM Mohiuddin, while hearing a PIL filed by Kalapala Babu Rao, a retired scientist from Hyderabad, expressed serious concern over the lack of accountability.
The PIL sought directions to the Telangana Government to provide compensation of Rs 1 crore to the next of kin of each deceased worker.
Following judicial intervention, a case was registered before BDL Bhanoor Police Station against the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer under Sections 105, 110, 118(1) and 182(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
Sinha was arrested and remanded to judicial custody on December 27, 2025, more than two months after the incident.
Anticipatory bail
In anticipation of arrest following Sinha’s detention, four other directors of the company approached the High Court seeking anticipatory bail.
Justice Sujana adjudicated Criminal Petition filed by Bindu Vinodhan and Dhanalaxmi Guntaka, both Independent Directors and Criminal Petition filed by Ravindra Prasad Sinha, Whole Time Director and Executive Director, and Yeddula Janardhana Reddy, Independent Director, granting anticipatory bail to all four petitioners.
The court directed the four directors to surrender before the Additional Judicial Magistrate of First Class, Sangareddy, within two weeks from February 2.
Upon surrender, they are to be released on execution of a personal bond of Rs 1 lakh with two sureties for a like sum each, subject to conditions similar to those imposed on the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer.
