Stray dog management: CM Revanth reviews sterilisation progress with Maneka Gandhi
Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Sunday held a high-level review meeting with a delegation led by animal rights activist and BJP leader Maneka Gandhi to discuss animal welfare measures in Telangana.
The meeting focused on the management of stray dogs and the strengthening of cow protection initiatives across the state.
Sterilisation drive for stray dogs
During the meeting, officials briefed the delegation on the ongoing measures to manage the stray dog population within municipal limits.
A detailed PowerPoint presentation was showcased, highlighting the State’s intensive sterilisation programme for street dogs.
The Chief Minister emphasised that the government is committed to implementing scientific and humane methods to address the issue across all municipalities.
Modern goshalas and cow protection
Highlighting the State’s commitment to cattle welfare, CM Revanth informed the delegation that comprehensive plans for cow protection are already in motion.
He revealed that the foundation stone has been laid for a state-of-the-art Goshala at Enkepally. This facility is being developed over a vast area and will be equipped with advanced infrastructure to ensure the well-being of the animals.
The Chief Minister further stated that the government plans to establish similar goshalas at various strategic locations across the state, specifically focusing on areas near prominent temples.
Maneka Gandhi appreciates state efforts
Expressing her satisfaction with the roadmap presented by the State government, Maneka Gandhi appreciated the proactive steps being taken in the field of animal welfare. She lauded the commitment of the Chief Minister and the administrative machinery in prioritising the management of stray animals and cow protection.
Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu, Chief Secretary A Ramakrishna Rao, Commissioners of the three Municipal Corporations, and other senior officials were present during the meetings.
