New Delhi: The government is set to move a formal motion in the Parliament to revoke the suspension of eight opposition members, including Bhuvanagiri MP Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy.

The decision follows a consensus arrived at an all-party meeting chaired by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Monday.

Congress Lok Sabha Whip K Suresh confirmed that the government would move a formal motion to lift the suspension, allowing the members to rejoin parliamentary proceedings.

Voice of Telangana

Expressing his commitment to his constituency, MP Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy emphasized that his return is vital for representing the people of Bhuvanagiri and the broader interests of Telangana. "The people of Bhuvanagiri elected me specifically so that I could speak about the issues facing our state in the Lok Sabha," Reddy stated. "Many critical matters concerning Telangana remain pending, and I must democratically raise these questions."

Reddy indicated that over the next two weeks, he intends to focus on several state-specific issues during the discussions on the 'Demands for Grants', a crucial phase of the Budget proceedings.

Context of the Suspension

The Bhuvanagiri MP was among eight lawmakers—seven from Congress and one from CPI(M)—who were suspended on February 3, 2026, for the remainder of the session. The suspension followed a period of intense protest in the House.

Reddy clarified the group's stance, noting that the protest was a response to being denied opportunities to speak and the frequent interruptions faced by the Leader of the Opposition, Rahul Gandhi.

No Intent to Disrupt: Reddy maintained that the group has no desire to stage protests for their own sake but will "certainly register a protest" if the Speaker yields to external political pressure to stifle the Opposition.

A Call for Equality: He urged the Speaker to treat all 543 Members of Parliament equally, ensuring adequate time and opportunity for every representative to voice their concerns.

With the revocation, the Budget Session will have discussions on pending legislative business, as there have been constant disruptions in the House.
