Telangana aims to be South Asia’s textile capital by 2047: CM Revanth
Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Friday unveiled an ambitious vision to position Telangana as the ‘Textile Capital of South Asia’ by 2047. He outlined a strategy to build a globally competitive, end-to-end textile ecosystem.
Speaking at the Asian Textiles Conference 2026 (ATEXCON) in Hyderabad, the Chief Minister said the State government is committed to providing world-class infrastructure, investor-friendly policies and rapid execution to attract global textile investments.
What is the strategy to build Textile Hub of South Asia?
CM Revanth said the textile push is a key component of the state’s broader ‘Telangana Rising 2047’ vision, which aims to transform the state into a USD 3 trillion economy by the centenary of India’s independence.
“By 2047, we will transform Telangana into the textile capital of South Asia,” he said, adding that the government’s policies are designed to match global standards and create a competitive edge for investors.
End-to-end textile ecosystem
Highlighting the state’s strengths, the Chief Minister emphasised the goal of developing a complete textile value chain, from raw material production to global fashion markets.
“We aim to partner with the industry across the entire value chain, from cotton fields in Telangana to fashion shows in global cities like London and New York,” he said.
He described Telangana as an ideal destination for investment, citing skilled human resources, robust infrastructure and strong policy support.
Boost to local manufacturing and film industry
CM Revanth also called for closer collaboration between the textile and entertainment industries. He said the government would encourage the film sector to source costumes and fashion from local textile manufacturers, boosting domestic demand and visibility.
He noted that Hyderabad has emerged as a global entertainment hub, strengthened by the presence of major international studios and innovation centres.
Focus on sustainability for green textile hubs
Emphasising environmental responsibility, the Chief Minister announced plans to establish green textile hubs in the state. These hubs will focus on sustainable manufacturing practices and eco-friendly production processes.
Telangana’s textile strength and infrastructure
CM Revanth Reddy highlighted that Telangana has a strong foundation in textiles, backed by its status as one of India’s largest cotton producers. The state’s cotton is globally recognised for its quality.
He also pointed to the development of the Kakatiya Mega Textile Park in Warangal as a major step towards creating a world-class textile manufacturing destination.
Diverse industrial growth
The Chief Minister underlined that Telangana is already a leader in multiple sectors, including deep tech, pharmaceuticals, life sciences, aerospace, defence, manufacturing and energy, providing a strong ecosystem for textile sector expansion.
State IT and Industries Minister D Sridhar Babu and Textiles Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao were also present at the conference.
