Telangana deputy CM Bhatti: Ready to Resolve All Electricity Employee Issues

Hyderabad: Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka has reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to addressing the long-standing issues of electricity employees, contrasting the current administration's approach with that of the previous government.

Speaking at Mahatma Jyotirao Phule Praja Bhavan on Tuesday, the Deputy CM released the SC & ST Electricity Employees’ Diary. The event saw participation from prominent MLAs Vemula Veeresham and Dr. Kavvampalli Satyanarayana, alongside leaders from major utility unions including GENCO, TRANSCO, NPDCL, and SPDCL.

During the event, Vikramarka emphasized that the government, led by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, views employees as partners in governance rather than subordinates. "The Indian National Congress government has never imposed its views on employees or their unions," Vikramarka stated. "Instead, it listens to their opinions and works democratically to resolve issues."

He specifically noted that while the previous administration was perceived as neglecting employee welfare, the current "people's government" has actively sought solutions since its formation. He credited the constitutional reservations framed by Dr. B.R. Ambedkar for the professional advancement of SC and ST communities and pledged that the government would act as a safeguard for their rights.

The interaction between the Deputy CM and the union leaders highlights a period of significant advocacy within the energy sector. These demands and discussions are being driven by several key factors:

  • Union leaders from GENCO, TRANSCO, and Discoms (NPDCL/SPDCL) have pointed to a backlog of unresolved grievances from the previous administration, ranging from service benefits to working conditions.

  • SC and ST employee associations are seeking active government intervention to ensure that reservation policies and promotional avenues are strictly protected and implemented without procedural delays.

  • Operational Challenges: As the state manages high-demand periods—such as the upcoming Ramzan festival, during which the government has already extended business hours until 5:00 AM to support local trade —the workload on electricity employees increases significantly. This heightens the urgency for the government to address staffing shortages and welfare benefits.

  • Unions are advocating for timely resolutions to wage-related issues and better support systems to match the evolving economic landscape of the state.

The Deputy CM assured the representatives that the government remains "fully prepared" to address any future difficulties the associations may encounter, promising a sincere and continued effort to maintain industrial peace and employee satisfaction.
