Hyderabad: Telangana Roads and Buildings (R&B) Department has initiated steps to expedite National Highway projects worth ₹2,400 crore.

This follows the directions from Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy.

The move is aimed at securing sanctions and fund approvals before the close of the current financial year.

A high-level review meeting was held with the Regional Officer of MoRTH and EnC, SEs, and EEs of the NH division of the R&B department to fast-track proposals under the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways.

Officials reviewed the status of DPR and estimates preparation, technical clearances, and procedural requirements to ensure that eligible works are sanctioned by March 31 by the Government of India.

Among the major projects taken up for review were widening and strengthening works on NH-161BB along the Madnur to Bodhan corridor, capacity augmentation on NH-365B connecting Duddeda and Sircilla, and bridge and VUP/HLB works on various NH roads.

Bypass construction and junction upgrades were also discussed, along with bridge rehabilitation and service road works on feeder routes serving industrial and logistics clusters.

The performance-based maintenance and immediate repair works were sought to be expedited. The officials were also directed to expedite works on already sanctioned works to make them useful to the public.

Officials said the projects, spread across key corridors in Telangana, are aimed at easing congestion, improving freight movement, and enhancing road safety.

Departments concerned were instructed to resolve pending issues related to land acquisition, utility shifting, and administrative approvals on a priority basis to avoid delays in the release of central funds.

The push to accelerate National Highway works is part of the state government’s broader effort to strengthen transport infrastructure and improve interstate connectivity, officials added.
