Telangana sanctions Rs 3.07 crore aid to families of victims killed in Saudi bus crash

Hyderabad: The Telangana State Government has sanctioned Rs 3.07 crore from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund to assist the families devastated by the horrific bus accident in Saudi Arabia in November.
The accident killed 45 members from Hyderabad.
Release of funds immediately, says CM
As many as 18 members of the family of Shaik Naseeruddin, a retired railway official, perished when their bus collided with a diesel tanker and erupted into flames near Al Murifah, about 25 km before reaching Madinah.
Sixteen persons who perished were from the Malepally (Bazaar Ghat) area and the other pilgrims were from Santosh Nagar, Mehdipatnam, Tolichowki, Asif Nagar, Jhirra, Meeraj Colony and Mughal Nagar.
Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy directed the immediate release of the sanctioned Rs 3.07 crore, of which Rs 5 lakh is for the kin of each deceased person and specialised support for those seriously injured.
Govt sponsors travel for kin of victims to Madinah to attend final rites
Following the traditions of the land of Madinah and the wish of many families, the victims were laid to rest in Jannatul Baqi, Madinah.
The government sponsored travel for two members from each victim’s family to Saudi Arabia to attend the final rites. The government supported the families under the instructions of Minority Welfare Minister Mohammed Azharuddin, along with MLAs from AIMIM and others.
Minister Azharuddin said that he met the family member of the lone survivor, Shoeb, in Madinah and assured him of all possible assistance.
“Two family members of the deceased are also on their way to Madina with complete arrangements made by the Ministry of Minority Welfare, Government of Telangana. All efforts are being made to prepare for the last rites at the earliest in consultation with the Saudi authorities,” Azharuddin told NewsMeter.
What was the fatal accident in Saudi Arabia?
The pilgrims embarked on the journey on November 9. On November 17, they were returning from Medina to Mecca after completing the Umrah rituals when the fatal accident occurred.
The bus collided with an oil tanker, leading to a fire, killing the 45 pilgrims on board.
