Telangana Transport Department earns Rs 5,142 Cr revenue in nine months; covers 83% target
The department noted that steady tax collections and effective enforcement contributed significantly to the revenue growth during the nine months

Hyderabad: Telangana Transport Department has earned a revenue of Rs 5,142 crore during the first nine months of 2025–26.
The collections account for 83% of the Rs 6,165 crore revenue target set for the period from April to December, the department said in an official statement.
Strong revenue performance in FY 2025–26
The department noted that steady tax collections and effective enforcement contributed significantly to the revenue growth during the nine months.
Detailed break-up of revenue
According to the statement, the revenue accrued from the following sources:
Lifetime Tax: Rs 3,611 crore
Quarterly Tax: Rs 730 crore
Green Tax: Rs 57 crore
Fees (registrations, permits, licences): Rs 408 crore
Enforcement and Inspection Collections: Rs 181 crore
Service Charges: Rs 153 crore
Sankranti rush: Warning to private bus operators
In view of the heavy passenger movement during the Sankranti festival season, the Transport Department has issued a strong warning to private bus operators against charging exorbitant fares.
Special enforcement drives ordered
The department said it has instructed officials to conduct special inspections across the State. Stringent action will be initiated against private buses found:
Collecting fares in excess of prescribed limits,
Illegally carrying goods, or
Operating as stage carriages in violation of permit conditions.
Vehicles to be seized for violations
Officials have been authorised to seize vehicles found flouting transport rules during inspections. The department reiterated that strict enforcement measures will be in place throughout the festive season to protect passenger interests and ensure compliance with transport regulations.
