Hyderabad: The Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) recorded unprecedented passenger movement during the Rakhi Purnima festival, ferrying 3.68 crore passengers in just six days.

Women availed 2.51 crore free journeys under the state’s Mahalakshmi Scheme, making this the biggest festive rush in the corporation’s history.

Highest-ever single-day travel by women

On August 9 (Rakhi festival), TGSRTC carried 45.62 lakh women passengers. The figure peaked on August 11 with 45.94 lakh women travelling in a single day, the highest daily count ever recorded by the corporation.

Massive growth over last year

In 2024, TGSRTC transported 2.75 crore passengers during Rakhi.

This year’s numbers mark a jump of 92.95 lakh passengers. The fleet clocked 2.28 crore kilometres, an increase of 53 lakh kilometres over last year.
