Bhopal: Mohan Yadav, the BJP MLA from Ujjain South, will be the new Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, where the saffron outfit has retained power after the just held assembly polls, party sources said on Monday.
Yadav (58), an OBC leader, was elected as the BJP's legislature party leader in Madhya Pradesh at a meeting in Bhopal held in the evening in presence of central observers.
Mohan Yadav, a three-time MLA from Ujjain South, was a minister in the Shivraj Singh Chouhan cabinet. The 58-year-old's political career began with his first election as an MLA in 2013. He was re-elected in the subsequent 2018 state assembly election. He was the former higher education minister of the state.
He was serving as minister for higher education in the outgoing Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan's cabinet.
The state will have two deputy chief ministers Jagdish Devda and Rajendra Shukla. Madhya Pradesh's new speaker will be Narendra Singh Tomar.
