NIA conducts raid in Tirunelveli in association with Ansarullah group

Chennai : A five-member National Investigation Agency (NIA) team raided the house of Tirunelveli resident M Diwan Mujipeer based on a warrant issued by a Special Court for NIA Cases, Chennai. Diwan is alleged to belong to the Ansarullah group and had attempted to set up a terror group in Tamil Nadu.

A case was registered against 16 accused in July, concerning the Ansarullah group, and during their arrest, a search was conducted in around 18 locations in the state. Diwan’s connection to the group was revealed during one such raid. The 16 were arrested based on credible information stating that the accused while being in India and the UAE, had conspired and conducted consequent preparations to wage war against the Indian government by forming the terrorist gang.

During the raid of Diwan’s residence, the police confiscated three mobiles, four SIM cards and one memory card, besides several incriminating documents. The seized materials would be submitted to the Special Court and be subjected to a forensic examination. Diwan is currently being examined for his role in the crime.
