Identified as Dinesh, he was a murder accused who was released from prison a few months ago.
Dinesh was found in a pool of blood with injuries on his head and other parts.
It may be recalled in December 2019, another gangster Murali alias Belt Murali was murdered near Leela Mahal Centre in Tirupati.
Dinesh was one of the accused in Murali's murder case. Murali was accused of the murder of another gangster Bhargav in December 2017.
Preliminary investigation has revealed that five persons led by Vinay stabbed Dinesh and smashed his head before fleeing from the spot.
On hearing commotion, locals rushed to the spot and found Dinesh in a pool of blood.
Police immediately rushed to the spot and started the investigation. Sniffer dogs were also pressed into the service to locate the killers. Clue teams also reached the spot to collect evidence.
Superintendent of Police (Tirupati Urban) Ramesh Reddy said old-rivalry could be the reason for Dinesh's murder. He said they have examined the CCTV footage to identify the accused.
"Vinay is the prime accused in the murder of Dinesh," he said.
Police around nine-months ago Bhargav's gang members murdered Dasari's gang member Murali. Now, Dinesh, who was a member of Bhargav's gang, was murdered by his rival gang.
Dinesh is survived by his wife and two children. Based on his wife's complaint, police registered a case under Section 302 of IPC and started the investigation.
