Nishant Shetty betters Srinivas Gowda's Kambala record with 9.51 seconds
By Anurag Mallick Published on 18 Feb 2020 12:18 PM GMTHyderabad: Days after Kambala Race runner, Srinivasa Gowda broke Usain Bolt's record of 9.58 seconds by his 9.55 seconds, Fellow Kambala Runner Nishant Shetty went past Srinivasa Gowda's record and set a new record of 9.51 seconds.
Nishant Shetty, belonging to Bajagoli jogibettu covered a distance of 143m in 13.68 seconds which on calculating for 100m is 9.51 seconds. A difference of 0.04 seconds.
It was on Sunday ( February 16 ) when Nishant Shetty from Bajagoli jogibettu covered the distance at the Soorya-Chandra Jodukare Kambala at Venoor.
Recently, Srinivasa Gowda caught a lot of people's attention with his speed and was the talk of the Town. Upon his viral video of running along with buffalos going viral on social media, Union Minister for youth affairs and Sports, Kiren Rijiju called him for trials and will be coached by top trainers.
Upon his achievement, the Karnataka government also felicitated him with a cash prize of 3 lakh.
Now that his record is bettered by Nishant, the question is whether Rijiju will offer training to Nishant or not?. It is also to be noted that Srinivasa turned down the training offer by Rijiju citing the difference in professional running & Kambala race. He also said that one runs with toes in Kambala but in track events one runs with heels.
He also gave most of the credits to his buffalos and said, " I should thank my buffalos. They ran faster, due to which I can faster. "
