No changes in Z Plus security cover for Naidu
By Newsmeter Network Published on 19 Feb 2020 7:28 AM GMTVijayawada: Dismissing allegations that the State Government had reduced security cover for Telugu Desam Party (TDP) president and former chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu, AP Police said that there have been no changes and he continues to Z Plus security cover.
āPresently, 183 security personnel, including 135 in Vijayawada and 48 in Hyderabad are taking care of his security. We will make changes only after a decision is taken by the Security Review Committeeā, police added.
It may be recalled that the TDP leaders alleged YSR Congress government had withdrawn existing two chief security officers, apart from 15-member special police team headed by two armed reserve inspectors to Naidu, who was guarded by four constables, two in each shift.
However, he will continue to have Z Plus category security comprising national security guards (NSG) commandos that was provided by the Centre after the Maoist attack on him at Alipiri in October 2003.
The police said that their first job is to protect each and everyone in the state and there is no discrimination in provide security to opposition parties' leaders.
