Vijayawada: Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has reaffirmed that Andhra Pradesh is the only state in the country to provide reservations for SCs, STs, BCs, minorities and women in nominated posts and the same would be replicated when it comes to selecting Corporation chairperson posts.
Intervening during Question Hour, Mr Reddy brushed aside the allegations of nepotism in appointing Corporation chairpersons, advisors, CEOs and other nominated posts and said that there are about 160 more posts, which would be filled up after the ensuing panchayat elections.
The composition after all the vacancies are filled, the Chief Minister said, will be in tune with the 50 percent quota provision with SCs, STs, BCs, minorities and women getting their due share.
āWe are the only government to pass legislation to provide reservations to the weaker sections. You will notice that the composition will reflect our policy and implementation in letter and spirit,ā he said.
In fact, the State Cabinet has 60 % of Ministers representing the weaker sections. Of the five Deputy Chief Ministers, four are from the weaker sections.
He was responding to a query from Anagani Satya Prasad and others, who sought details of the number of persons nominated and appointed as chairpersons, advisors, CEOs and other administrative posts and if the quota was appropriately followed.
