Notorious smuggler arrested for supplying drugs to IT professionals in Hyderabad
By Newsmeter Network Published on 6 March 2020 3:28 AM GMTHyderabad: Police achieved a major breakthrough on Thursday when they arrested vegetable vendor-turned- Ganja smuggler at Raidurgam in Hyderabad.
Identified as Rahul Singh of Dhoolpet, he was allegedly involved in supplying drugs to software professionals working for leading MNCs in the cityās IT corridor.
Raidurgam police said he was moving suspiciously near Lumbini enclave located near the Care hospital, Gachibowli branch when he was caught by the cops on duty. Police seized 500 grams ganja, Rs 6,000 cash, scooter, and mobile phone from him.
Preliminary investigation revealed that he was on way to supply Ganja to software professionals in the area. Police said he has been selling 10 grams of Ganja for Rs 1,000.
Police sources said Rahul had been involved in drug peddling for a very long time. The investigation has revealed that he used to be in touch with his clients over the phone and WhatsApp.
Police are now verifying his call data records. His phone has been sent for forensic analysis.
Police suspect that his clients include 200 software professionals. Rahul was arrested thrice in the past by the Excise department for Ganja smuggling. He was currently out on bail.
