Odisha man held in Srikakulam for rape and murder of 3 women in 3 states
By Newsmeter Network Published on 7 Jun 2020 7:31 AM GMTSrikakulam: The Srikakulam police on Saturday arrested 55-year-old Savara Ramesh, a native of Odisha, in connection with alleged rape and murder of three women in three states (Odisha, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh).
The police said that Ramesh was a wanted criminal for police of three states and he was finally nabbed in Srikakulam district on Saturday.
Ramesh is a resident of Valakabhadra village under Gajapathi district of Odisha. His wife Sampa has been suffering from mental illness from 2010.
On October 26, 2016, Ramesh allegedly raped and murdered Doseti Damayanti when she was alone near the farm at Bhimpuram village in Odisha and absconded.
Later, Ramesh had gone to Aswaraopeta of Bhadradi Kothagudum district of Telangana and joined as a worker in a paper mill, where he befriended one
M. Kosamma. He wanted to fulfil his sexual desire with Kosamma. However, when she refused to it, he murdered her on November 18, 2017 at an isolated place.
Though the police registered a case against Ramesh, they could not nab him.
Ramesh came to Gokinakonda village in Guntur district, Andhra Pradesh, and joined as a daily wage worker in an aqua firm. Here, he befriended B. Lakshmi, a native of Saravakota in Srikakulam district, who was working in the same aqua firm. Lakshmi's sister, Jayanthi, came to Gokinakonda village for a few days and she also fell into Rameshās trap.
Ramesh helped Jayanthi financially expecting sexual favour from her. When she returned to her home town, Srikakulam, after some time, Ramesh also went to Srikakulam.
On December 16, 2019, Ramesh invited Jayanthi to Pattupuram village under Meliaputti mandal, Srikakulam district, where he allegedly raped and murdered her.
Initially, the Srikakulam police registered a case under Section 174 of CrPC
(suspicious death) and later, they altered it to a case of murder. The police nabbed the accused at Pathapatnam area in Srikakulam district.
