Mulugu: Heavy wind and lighting set off a landmine during the early hours of 3 May near the Palemvagu project in Venkatapuram mandal of Mulugu district. The explosive was reportedly placed by the Naxals targeting police security forces.
The local tribals informed the police about the blast. No casualties were reported.
Mulugu OSD P. Shoban Kumar said they are still investigating the explosion near the project. He said that a team of police personnel and CRPF, including the bomb disposal squad, inspected the site. Specials party teams also launched a combing operation in areas surrounding the blast site, said Shoban.
