On Women's Day, man rapes young woman in a car in Shabad
By Newsmeter Network Published on 8 March 2020 5:12 PM GMTHyderabad: In yet another shocking incident, a 24-year-old married woman, was allegedly raped by a man in a car at Shabad, located in the outskirts of the city. According to the police, the accused Praveen and the victim belonged to the same village. He had offered to drop her home and under that pretext, raped her, said the police.
According to Shadnagar police officials, the victim had four years ago and was residing with her husband at Chandanavelly village of Shabad mandal. On Friday evening, she had gone to the neighbouring Hayathabad village to purchase a new SIM card. The accused was at the shop where the victim purchased it. After she purchased the SIM card, she was waiting on the road waiting for a transport to go home.
The accused noticed her and approached her. He introduced himself as belonging to the same village and offered to drop her home in his car. As it was getting late, she agreed and joined him in the car. Midway, he diverted the car into an unknown path. When she questioned him about the diverted route, he slapped her repeatedly and threatened her to keep quiet. After driving into an isolated area, he stopped the vehicle and raped her.
Though she raised the alarm, her cries were not heard as the place was away from the main road.
She however managed to escape from him and reached home in an auto-rickshaw late in the night and informed her husband. On Saturday, the couple approached Shabad police and lodged a complaint. A rape case was registered and Praveen was detained for questioning.
