PA of Moghalrajapuram doctor robbed Rs 50 lakh from house, five arrested

On 14 September, unidentified persons wearing masks had barged into a doctor's home at the Moghalrajpuram area in Vijayawada city and stolen Rs. 50 lakh worth of gold and cash at knife-point.
The Vijayawada police commissioner, B. Srinivasulu, said following a thorough investigation they had arrested five of the eight gang members. The arrested have been identified as Nagendra, John Wesli, Saikiran, Akhil, and M. Vijay. All are residents of Krishna and Guntur districts and were involved in property offenses in the past.
According to the police, the gang barged into Dr. Muralidhar’s house in between 3.30 p.m and 4 p.m on Monday, tied up the doctor's wife and his son and decamped with gold and cash. Local people heard the cries of the mother and the son and rushed to help.
The police examined CCTV footage from the area to identify the robbers. They found that one of the accused, M. Vijay, who worked as a PRO at Dr. Muralidhar’s hospital had called the doctor’s wife before the robbery. The police arrested Vijay and based on his confession, they arrested the other four.
The police have recovered Rs. 34.75 lakh cash and some gold jewellery from the men. They have launched a manhunt to arrest the other three involved in the robbery.
