Peddapalli honoured with best district award
By Newsmeter Network Published on 1 Oct 2019 7:58 AM GMTHyderabad: Adding yet another feather to its cap, the Peddapalli district in Telanagana state is honoured with the best district award by the Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation, Ministry of Jal Sajthi, Government of India. The honour is part of the Swachh Bharath Diwas 2019 which is to be held on 2nd October marking the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.
Reacting to the districtās honour, the Chief Secretary to Government of Telangana, S.K. Joshi said, āAnother well-deserved recognition for Peddapalli district in terms of winning a national award. Congratulations to the collector and her team.ā
As part of Swachh Survekshan 2019, an annual survey was conducted by the ministry among all the districts in the country. 17,400 villages and 690 districts were surveyed and ranked on the basis of quantitative and qualitative sanitation parameters.
Peddapalli district received the highest score in this survey. The district will receive this award from Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 2nd October at Ahmadabad.
Earlier this year, the district had earlier bagged the āSwachh Sundar Shauchalaya National Award 2019ā. On 23rd September, Menthri Soujanya, resident of Kammapalli village in Peddapalli district had received a national-level best social service award from President Ramnath Kovind.
