Hyderabad: People who attended Tabligh-e-Jamaat congregation at Delhi’s Nizamuddin are under scanner after six persons from Telangana died of coronavirus.

Even before the Telangana government announced the deaths, the Delhi Police cordoned off Nizamuddin West on Monday after several people who attended the congregation showed coronavirus like symptoms. It said that they will launch a house to house survey in the area on Tuesday, to trace out more cases.

It was found that over 2,000 delegates from across the country and aboard including Indonesia and Malaysia attended the Tabligh-e-Jamaat congregation in Nizamuddin West from March 1-15. Several people from Telangana, mostly from Hyderabad attended this gathering.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Monday ordered the Delhi Police to register a case against the administrators of Nizamuddin Markaz for violating the lockdown orders and holding the congregation in West Nizamuddin in South Delhi.

“It has come to our knowledge that administrators of Nizamuddin Markaz violated the lockdown orders in view of the coronavirus outbreak in Delhi and now several positive cases have been found. Strong action would be taken against those in charge of this establishment,” said Delhi Government.
