Visakhapatnam: The Indira Gandhi Zoological Park here organised a coastal clean-up in which students from various colleges in the city, NCC, NSS volunteers and NGOs participated.
Dr. Nandani Salaria, the curator of IGZP, said such events give an opportunity to educate the public on the importance of avoiding single-use plastics.
Studies say that plastic makes its way into the oceans where they are consumed by fish in the form of microplastics and nano plastics. Later, it is passed on to humans by way of seafood and affects human health.
