Police rule out Coronavirus scare, says financial issues reason for suicide

Rajahmundry: A couple allegedly killed themselves by setting themselves on fire after losing all hopes of a normal life due to financial difficulties and health problems.
The burnt bodies of the couple were found near a tree at AB Apparao Road in Rajahmundry of East Godavari district on Friday morning.
The victims have been identified as V Satish and V Venkata Lakshmi. Satish was an autorickshaw driver by profession and Venkata Lakshmi was a housewife.
Though the couple in the suicide letter mentioned that they are taking the extreme step over doubts of getting infected with the Coronavirus, the police ruled out the Coronavirus scare.
A senior police officer said that their preliminary investigation has revealed that the couple committed suicide over debts and health issues only.
The police recovered a bag near the suicide scene and they found some documents related to certain health issues of the couple.
The police shifted the burnt bodies to the government hospital for autopsy. A case has been registered under Section 174 of CrPC and investigation is on.
