Polio-ridden girl raped by neighbour at Warangal

Hyderabad: A physically challenged girl was allegedly raped by her neighbour at Katrapally village of Rayaparthy Mandal in Warangal district of Telangana.

Rayaparthi police have arrested the accused identified as Vangapally Yellaswamy. He was caught by the local residents and tied to a pole. He was thrashed before being handed over to the police.

According to sources, the victim in her teens has been suffering from polio since her early childhood. With the result, she was confined to home. On Friday, when her parents left for work, the accused, who resides in the same colony barged into her house and raped her.

After some time, the neighbors saw him fleeing and alerted others. Meanwhile, when the victim’s brother returned home from college he found her sister raped. As he raised alarm, their neighbors told him that they have seen Yellaswamy coming out of their home.

Later they caught the accused when he was trying to escape. He was tied to an electric pole and beaten up before the police arrived. Rayaparthi police registered a case of rape and arrested the accused. The victim has been sent for the medical examination.
